McKinstry was optioned to Triple-A Oklahoma City on Sunday, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

The 26-year-old has played a significant role at times for Los Angeles this year, but he'll head to the minors Sunday with Mookie Betts (hip) returning from the injured list. Corey Seager also returned from the shelf this week and Trea Turner (COVID-19) is poised to join the team relatively soon after being acquired from the Nationals, so McKinstry is unlikely to have more than a bench role if he does rejoin the big-league roster down the stretch.
