The Astros optioned McCormick to Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday.

McCormick hasn't played much for the Astros and has done very little with the action he has seen, going 1-for-16 over his last 12 games. He's clearing out to make space on the 28-man active roster for the return of Victor Caratini (concussion) from the 7-day injured list.
