Seattle Mariners pitcher James Paxton threw two innings in a simulated game Tuesday as he continues to recover from a finger injury, according to the News Tribune. Paxton has not pitched since suffering the injury May 28 against the Cleveland Indians, but he sounded confident in his recovery after throwing a bullpen session last week, saying that he does not feel any pain or lingering soreness. "No pain at all," Paxton told mynorthwest.com "I bounced back really well, which is really good. It's been responding really well, no lingering tightness or soreness the day after. It's all been great." Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon said after the session that Paxton could need just two or three rehab outings before returning. Paxton threw 58.1 innings this season prior to sustaining the injury. during which time he posted a 3-3 record with a 3.70 earned-run average.
