Scott Podsednik (groin) is scheduled to begin a minor league rehab assignment Friday with Triple-A Pawtucket. Podsednik is scheduled to serve as the designated hitter on Friday and will play the field on Sunday. The 36-year-old outfielder was hitting .387 (24-for-62) with one homer, seven RBI and six steals prior to hitting the disabled list earlier this month with a groin strain. He's eligible to return in early July.
