Straw went 1-for-5 with a walk and three runs in Sunday's 17-3 win over the Royals.
EDGE Analysis
Straw wasn't one of the Guardians' most prolific performers in the blowout win, but he got on base three times on the day and came around to score each time while batting in front of rookie Steven Kwan, who went 5-for-5. Though Straw lacks power and doesn't hit for much hard contact, he walks at a solid clip, limits his strikeouts and offers quality defense in the outfield. That skill set -- plus the five-year, $25 million extension he inked over the weekend -- should keep him locked into an everyday role throughout the season. With his playing time secure, the speedy Straw could be one of the top candidates to lead the majors in stolen bases after he nabbed 30 bags in 36 attempts in 2021.
