Long turned in his longest outing since June 20 after being given a few weeks to ramp up at Triple-A Sacramento. Filling in for the rotation spot of Anthony DeSclafani (ankle), Long pounded the strike zone for 19 called strikes and was the beneficiary of strong run support. Despite the effective outing, Long may not have the chance for another turn through the rotation as DeSclafani, Johnny Cueto (elbow) and Kevin Gausman (illness) are all expected to return imminently.
