Schoop has collected six hits in five games since returning from surgery to remove his wisdom teeth last week. For the spring, he's hitting .278 with a pair of homers and 11 RBI, but Schoop is still showing a very limited desire to draw walks (1:12 BB:K, .291 OBP), limiting the short-term upside of his combination of power and speed. With J.J. Hardy sidelined by a shoulder injury, Schoop should be safe as the O's primary second baseman to begin the season, but a healthy Hardy could free up Everth Cabrera to push Schoop for playing time at second base this season.
