Santana was removed from Sunday's game against the Indians in the first inning with an AC joint sprain in his left shoulder, Phil Miller of the Minneapolis Star Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
Santana was making his fourth start in the past six games, but didn't log a single at-bat Sunday after suffering the injury in the top half of the inning during an outfield collision with teammate Robbie Grossman. Eddie Rosario came off the bench to replace Santana in center field. The Twins will continue to monitor Santana over the next few days to determine the extent of his injury, but with rosters set to expand Sept. 1, the team won't have to wait long to bring in depth options in the outfield if Santana needs to miss extended time.
