Sanchez (finger) was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet reports.
EDGE Analysis
After being activated from the disabled list in advance of his scheduled start Sunday against the Rays, Sanchez lasted just 13 pitches before his right middle finger presented issues for him again. The Blue Jays announced shortly after Sanchez's removal that the 24-year-old was dealing with a split nail on the finger, which had resulted in some bleeding. Sanchez will now need at least another week and a half off while the Blue Jays address the issue, leaving the team shorthanded in the rotation once again. The team recalled Danny Barnes from Triple-A Buffalo in a corresponding move Monday, but he's just expected to provide an extra arm in the bullpen until Sanchez's next turn in the rotation comes up. With an off day Thursday, the Blue Jays could opt to get by with a four-man rotation until a fifth starter is first needed April 9 against the Indians.
