San Francisco Giants pitcher Mike Leake will start Saturday against the Pittsburgh Pirates after recovering from a hamstring injury, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Leake was reportedly only running at about 60 percent earlier this week, but a strong outing during his bullpen session Wednesday cleared him to return. He suffered the injury during a routine workout session between starts, a disappointing development after he allowed just two runs in 6.1 innings during his first start since being acquired from the Cincinnati Reds before the trade deadline. “He wasn’t doing anything different, just the normal sprints he does,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. “He thought it was a cramp and it didn’t go away." Leake spent the first five years of his career with the Reds and is coming off his third double-digit win season. He is 9-6 with a 3.52 ERA in 143 innings this year.
