San Francisco Giants pitcher Mike Leake will not make his scheduled start on Friday due to a strained left hamstring, according to the San Francisco Chronicle. Leake sustained the injury during a routine workout session in between starts and the team is hopeful that he will only miss one start. “He wasn’t doing anything different, just the normal sprints he does,” Giants manager Bruce Bochy said. “He thought it was a cramp and it didn’t go away. … It’s not worth the risk of starting him.” The Giants traded for the 27-year-old before last week's deadline, and he had a strong debut against the Texas Rangers over the weekend, allowing just two runs in 6.1 innings. Leake has thrown seven straight quality starts overall, and he will be expected to contribute down the stretch as the World Series champions attempt to make another postseason run.
