Ryu (1-5) was hit hard in his return from a hip injury, giving up 10 runs (five earned) on eight hits and six walks over four innings in Thursday's 10-7 loss to the Rockies. He struck out four.
EDGE Analysis
Ryu had the relative misfortune of drawing Coors Field as the setting for his first start off the disabled list and was pounded from the first inning onward despite not giving up any home runs. Ian Desmond, Nolan Arenado and Carlos Gonzalez all tagged him for RBI doubles in the first and second innings, netting six runs overall. The 30-year-old southpaw gave up a season high in hits, runs, earned runs and walks, while also turning in his shortest stint of the season. Ryu will look to bounce back in a park much friendlier to pitchers when he takes on the Giants in a road start next Tuesday.
