Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times reports that the Mariners have had serious discussions with the Phillies about acquiring outfielder Marlon Byrd. There were reports earlier in the week that the Mariners had scouted the 36-year-old slugger. He's in the first year of a two-year, $16 million contract and has already indicated that he'd be willing to waive his no-trade clause. The Mariners are in desperate need for a right-handed power bat, and Byrd seems like a very logical fit.
