Ryan (calf) has been playing in extended spring games and could begin a rehab assignment soon, The Westchester Journal News reports. There's no timetable for exactly when a rehab assignment might begin, but Ryan has been progressing well in Tampa and has been able to both swing and field ground balls. He'll likely need at least a few games during his rehab stint before getting major league ready, but when he does return he could supplant Gregorio Petit and the right-handed utility infielder option.
