Rutledge (hip) was a late scratch to the Red Sox lineup Friday, Brian MacPherson of the Providence Journal reports.

In his place, Dustin Pedroia was inserted into the lineup after returning from a sore back injury. Rutledge should be considered day-to-day for now, but Boston may choose to give the infielder a couple of days to get back to 100 percent. If that indeed is the case, look for Deven Marrero to take over at third again Saturday.
