Ruggiano (shoulder) underwent surgery Monday, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

Ruggiano was acquired by the Mets at the trade deadline but appeared in only three games before sustaining a shoulder injury. He was placed on the DL on August 27 and moved to the 60-day DL a few days later, virtually ending his 2016 season. With surgery now in the rear-view, Ruggiano will turn his attention toward rehabbing in preparation for 2017.
