Royals sent C Brett Hayes outright to Triple-A Omaha. Hayes was beaten out by George Kottaras for the Royals' backup catcher job, but he has cleared waivers and will remain in the organization. He batted .306/.375/.556 with two homers and 10 RBI this spring.
