Royals head trainer Nick Kenney said the team is prepared to be without Jason Vargas for three to four weeks. It was discovered Wednesday that Vargas needed an emergency appendectomy, and it appears the tam isn't expecting him back before the end of July. Bruce Chen will likely start in his place during his absence.
