Royals general manager Dayton Moore said the team will "probably" wait until after the season to explore an extension with pending free agent Jeremy Guthrie. Guthrie was awful earlier this season with the Rockies and in his first two starts with the Royals. He's righted the ship since then, though, posting a 2.36 ERA since the beginning of August. The 33-year-old holds a pedestrian 4.33 ERA and 1.32 WHIP for his career, but he was a solid innings-eater from 2007-2011 and might have positioned himself to get more than a one-year deal with his late-season surge.
