Ross is attempting to correct a flaw in his delivery that has caused his arm slot to drop this season, Chelsea Janes of The Washington Post reports. "Usually when the arm drops it's fatigue," Nationals pitching coach Mike Maddux said. "He seemed to fatigue early. The first couple innings, [his arm slot] would be where it needs to be. Then the last couple innings, it would drop and his ball would flatten out."
EDGE Analysis
The 23-year-old looked a little better in his most recent start for Triple-A Syracuse, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over six innings Friday while striking out three, but as yet the Nats are putting no timetable on his return to the majors. The organization still views Ross as a key part of the rotation plans for the future, so expect the Nats to be a bit cautious with him and make sure he's comfortable with his mechanics before bringing him back into the fold. Fantasy GMs that have kept Ross stashed on their bench will need to be patient, but he should be in the Washington rotation again once he's getting consistent results at Triple-A.
