Rockies placed 1B Todd Helton on the 15-day disabled list with a torn labrum in his right hip. Helton will undergo season-ending surgery Friday. The 39-year-old batted just .238/.343/.400 with seven homers and a .743 OPS this season. He has one year left on his contract. The Rockies activated Chris Nelson from the disabled list to fill his spot on the active roster.
