Rockies optioned INF Chris Nelson to Triple-A Colorado Springs. He was sent down to make room for the newly-acquired Kevin Kouzmanoff on the active roster. Nelson, 25, is batting .231/.258/.340 with two homers, 12 RBI and a .597 OPS over 163 plate appearances this season. He will likely return when rosters expand in September.
