Rockies optioned INF Chris Nelson to Triple-A Colorado Springs. Nelson started out hot after being recalled from the minors at the end of May, but had just two hits over his final 26 at-bats. Thursday's acquisition of Mark Ellis effectively squashed his chances at playing time. However, he's still in the team's long-term plans and should play second base everyday at Triple-A.
