Rockies designated 3B Chris Nelson for assignment. Nelson batted just .242 with no home runs and also played poor defense to seal his fate. It's not surprising that the Rockies are making the move to Nolan Arenado, but it's a little surprising that they designated Nelson for assignment. He should draw interest on waivers.
