Richard (3-5) allowed just one run on five hits with no walks in a complete game victory Sunday against the D-backs. He struck out six.
EDGE Analysis
Richard gave up the opening run on a solo home run in the third inning, but he buckled down after that and allowed just four singles the rest of the way. He successfully pitched to contact, inducing 11 ground ball outs in addition to several weak fly outs, and he needed just 96 pitches to go the distance. Richard has turned in some excellent outings this season, but he has alternated good and bad starts virtually all year and owns an underwhelming 4.31 ERA even after Sunday's gem. He will face a difficult matchup with the Nationals in his next start Saturday.
