Richard (2-4) gave up five runs on seven hits over five innings in a loss to the Dodgers on Saturday. He walked six and struck out five.
EDGE Analysis
The veteran southpaw was unable to locate his fastball in this one, a criminal act for a pitcher who relies on control and weak contact to go deep in games. The six walks lowered Richard's lowered his K/BB ratio to 1.6 on the season, which does not bode well for his ERA when you factor in his unusually-high (for him) 1.1 HR/9. His next start comes on the road against the Rangers, leaving the 33-year-old out of the conversation even as a deep-league option.
