Cueto (elbow) played catch Wednesday for the first time since being placed on the injured list, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.
EDGE Analysis
Manager Gabe Kapler said Sept. 8 that Cueto would be shut down from throwing for at least another 10 days, but the right-hander apparently received clearance a bit ahead of schedule. The 35-year-old will need to resume mound work before his potential activation timeline is considered, and it's unclear at this point if he'll be able to return before the end of the regular season.
