The Cubs optioned Espinoza to Triple-A Iowa on Sunday, Andy Martinez of Marquee Sports Network reports.

As expected, Espinoza will make his way back to the minors after he was designated as the 27th man for Saturday's twin bill with the Mets. He appeared out of the bullpen in the Cubs' 4-3 loss in the second game of the doubleheader, striking out a pair of batters over 2.2 scoreless innings while working around one hit and two walks.
