The Padres reinstated Hudson from the COVID-19 injured list Wednesday, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.
EDGE Analysis
San Diego will swap one high-leverage reliever in for another on the active roster, as Drew Pomeranz (forearm) was moved to the IL in a corresponding move. Before landing on the IL and being shipped to San Diego ahead of the trade deadline, Hudson had worked as the top setup man to Brad Hand in Washington, recording 15 holds while posting a 2.20 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 48:7 K:BB in 32.2 innings. Now that he's cleared COVID-19 protocols, Hudson should quickly emerge as a key part of the late-inning bridge to San Diego closer Mark Melancon.
