Staumont was released by the Twins on Saturday, Aaron Gleeman of The Athletic reports.

Staumont was designated for assignment by Minnesota on Tuesday to open a spot on the 40-man roster for trade deadline addition Trevor Richards. Staumont went unclaimed on waivers prior to ultimately being let go Saturday. The reliever has produced a respectable 3.70 ERA and 1.27 WHIP with 18 strikeouts over 24.1 innings in 25 appearances with Minnesota this season and he'll likely get another shot with a big-league club this season.
