Bruce (arm) will begin a rehab assignment with Double-A Reading on Friday, Matt Gelb of The Athletic reports.

Bruce has been out since early August with a flexor strain. He's expected to appear in just two rehab games before rejoining the Phillies on Saturday. He's still only been cleared to hit and not to throw, though, so he'll be just a bat off the bench when he first returns.
