Reds prospect Tony Cingrani was hit hard by the Indians in his first spring start, surrendering three runs on three hits in his one inning of work on Friday.
Cingrani also walked one and struck out one in the outing. He only threw 12 pitches in the outing, seven of them for strikes, but was far too hittable. The Reds plan on keeping Cingrani as a starter rather than moving him to the bullpen this season, meaning that he'll open the season at Triple-A Louisville. He could find his way into the rotation at some point during the 2013 season though, and is worth a late look in NL-only leagues.
