Reds and RHP Alfredo Simon avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year contract. Simon asked for $1.05 million and was offered $750,000 by the Reds when arbitration figures were exchanged earlier this month. The 31-year-old right-hander posted an impressive 2.66 ERA in 61 innings last season.
