Red Sox transferred LHP Andrew Miller to the 60-day disabled list. This was done as a procedural move to make room on the 40-man roster for the recently acquired Matt Thornton. Miller will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after having surgery to repair ligament damage in his left foot.
