Red Sox signed RHP Brandon Lyon to a minor league contract; assigned him to Triple-A Pawtucket. Lyon was released by the Mets earlier this month after posting a 4.98 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in 37 appearances. His velocity has been down this season, but it's possible he still has enough left in the tank to help out in middle relief.
