Red Sox released RHP Brandon Lyon. Lyon allowed just one earned run over 5 1/3 innings with Triple-A Pawtucket and chose to exercise his opt-out clause when it became apparent that there wasn't a spot for him in the Red Sox' bullpen. He'll now look for a better opportunity elsewhere.
