Red Sox released OF Andres Torres. Torres exercised the out clause in his minor league contract after batting .292/.311/.472 with three home runs and eight RBI in 18 games at Triple-A Pawtucket. The 36-year-old outfielder may already have another deal lined up, but he's doubtful to reach the majors in 2014.
