Red Sox placed RHP Mike Pelfrey on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to June 19, with a back strain. It's not clear when Pelfrey suffered the injury, but he'll require at least a couple weeks of down time. He had been scheduled to start on Sunday in Cleveland, but the Twins have recalled Pedro Hernandez to take the ball instead.
