Red Sox optioned RHP Steven Wright to Triple-A Pawtucket. Wright was recalled on July 10 and earned his first win the next day, throwing 5 2/3 scoreless innings in relief of Ryan Dempster. The knuckleballer was sent down to clear a roster spot for Matt Thornton.
