Red Sox manager John Farrell is hopeful that Mike Carp (foot) could be able to pinch-hit Thursday. Carp was hit in the right foot on Tuesday and is dealing with some soreness. He was sent for an MRI, but it looks like no structural damage was found. The Red Sox are going with Ryan Lavarnway at first base on Thursday.
