Red Sox and LHP Andrew Miller avoided arbitration by agreeing to a one-year, $1.9 million contract. Miller requested $2.15 million and the Sox countered with an offer of $1.55 million, so the $1.9 million agreement comes in slightly above the midpoint between the figures. Miller enjoyed great success last season as a left-handed specialist, posting a 2.64 ERA and 48/17 K/BB ratio over 30 2/3 innings. The 28-year-old will be a key member of the Red Sox bullpen again in 2014.
