Recker was designated for assignment Sunday, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.

The Braves needed a spot on their 40-man roster for Matt Adams, and Recker drew the short straw. The 33-year-old catcher went 1-for-7 for Atlanta earlier this season and was hitting only .178/.288/.444 in 14 games for Triple-A Gwinnett, so assuming he goes unclaimed on waivers Recker will probably return to Gwinnett.
