The Rays recalled Head from Triple-A Durham on Tuesday.

After being demoted to Durham on Saturday, Head was able to rejoin the big club in only three days after fellow reliever DJ Johnson (shoulder) was moved to the 10-day injured list. Over his 20 innings out of the Tampa Bay bullpen this season, Head has posted excellent ratios (1.35 ERA, 0.85 WHIP, 8/1 K/9), but the Rays' wealth of quality relief arms will likely relegate him to low-leverage work.
