Rea was charged with six runs (five earned) on six hits and one walk while striking out three over 5.1 innings against the Mariners on Thursday. He did not factor in the decision.
EDGE Analysis
Rea and the Padres held a 12-2 lead after five innings, but the San Diego bullpen imploded in spectacular fashion. It was Rea's first start back in the majors following a brief stint in the minors, which was part of a plan to manage his innings total -- Rea has maxed out at 139 innings in a season as a professional. He has shown flashes at times this year, but most in deeper leagues will want to continue picking their spots with the right-hander.
