Rea has made the Opening Day roster in San Diego, Dennis Lin of the San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

Rea had been in competition with Drew Pomeranz and Robbie Erlin for the fourth and fifth starter jobs, but after San Diego announced its roster Sunday, Erlin ended up being the odd man out. Rea didn't have the strongest spring (5.48 ERA), but Padres' brass must have seen enough positive signs to warrant awarding him the job.
