Rea (3-2) pitched five innings, allowing three runs, four hits and two walks while striking out three in Tuesday's loss to the Giants.
EDGE Analysis
The second inning doomed the righty as he gave up three hits, including a three-run homer to Brandon Crawford, and faced seven hitters before getting out of the frame. In each of Rea's poor starts this season, the recurring theme has been inefficiency. He needed 94 pitches to get through Tuesday's five-inning outing, marking the fifth time this season he's needed at least 90 pitches or more to get through five innings or fewer. Not coincidentally, Rea's three quality starts have been his three most efficient efforts. He'll look to rebound Sunday when he makes his next start against the Dodgers.
