Rays placed C Jose Lobaton on the 15-day disabled with a ligament sprain in his left knee. A very tough break for a guy who was calling a shutout against the hard-hitting Red Sox. While the injury is not expected to be serious, fellow back-up John Jaso (oblique) is expected to return by early August, meaning Lobaton likely will finish another year in the minors.
