Rangers designated LHP Tommy Hottovy for assignment. The move clears a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Lance Berkman. Hottovy, who has posted a 4.05 ERA over 17 big league appearances the last two seasons, has a good chance of clearing waivers.
