Rachel Axon of USAToday.com reports that a woman contending she was sexually assaulted by Alfredo Simon in April 2013 filed a civil lawsuit in Washington D.C. on Thursday. The woman, who filed under a pseudonym, Jane Doe, is seeking $5 million in compensatory damages and $10 million in punitive damages. She says that she met Simon at a nightclub on April 27 last year and the pitcher eventually took her back to his hotel room even though she was "visibly intoxicated" and unable to consent. The U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Columbia decided last year not to pursue charges in the case. Simon, of course, faced manslaughter charges after a shooting in his native Dominican Republic in 2011 before eventually being acquitted.
