Quantrill gave up one run on two hits and two walks while striking out seven over five innings in his debut start for High-A Lake Elsinore.
EDGE Analysis
The 22-year-old righty is probably a bit overqualified for High-A, but he entered the season with just 37 innings under his belt since undergoing Tommy John surgery in 2015 while at Stanford, so the Padres will keep the training wheels on to some extent at the beginning of the season. It is unclear what type of innings cap he faces this year, but it would not be surprising if he pitched his way to Double-A by the end of the season. He has No. 2 starter upside.
